About
PORT ROBINSON ROAD
Port Robinson Road is a thriller/mystery/drama film in development from filmmaker Dave McRae. The film is based on true events from Dave's second year of College from November 2000. The screenplay, in which Dave also wrote, is complete.
The story centres on a group of young men and women who are in College, going about their everyday lives, when a sudden and unexpected journey falls into their lap, one that would change their lives forever.
The story is not a horror film, and should be thrown in with the rest of the main stream Hollywood films of this nature. The story of Port Robinson Road is one that is meant to thrill and chill its audience, but also to teach, open minds and allow its audience to start taking the topic of the paranormal seriously. A film of this nature dealing with the College generation, has never been or rarely been done before. It's a unique perspective and take on a generation full of stereo types. It's a fresh perspective on a genre greatly needed, and a vision with purpose and intent.
Since the actual experience happened over a decade ago, Dave McRae has been hard at work on gaining exposure for the film project. A low budget documentary was created and released in 2009 to help in that exposure, a concept video released in 2007, with another possibly coming, and a completed screenplay being touched up as we speak.
As of 2012, McRae says exciting new developments in that exposure are happening.

Synopsis
Synopsis
In November of the year 2000, in the residence housing of a small community college, life was about to change forever for 11 young men and women. After the discovery of an old abandoned farmhouse that lies hidden in the brush, the group finds itself captivated by its beauty, wonder and mystery. Many in the group are skeptical at first and believe the house is nothing more than a creepy and deserted place. That is however, until the night when one of them has an unearthly experience that is witnessed by the remaining members. The haunting realism and reality of the experience motivates the group to figure out what truth there is to the disturbing stories and rumors involving the house.
The journey the group embarks on, however, proves to be more difficult than anticipated. Stories, happenings, and clues don't make sense, and frustration is beginning to set in among the members of the group due to their lack of progression. However, it eventually dawns on the group that its inability to achieve answers is not one of personal intellectual limitations, but that someone, or some thing, is determined to prevent them from progressing any further in their exploration of the bizarre and mysterious. What began as something trivial has suddenly catapulted to obsession, an obsession the group cannot ignore. Thus begins a trepidatious odyssey into the murky, foreboding, unknown to unlock the truth of what happened to, and inside, the house on Port Robinson Road.
The evidence of something supernatural and paranormal existing in and around the house is astonishing. Images in photographs and video, voices on audio tape, the shadows of human beings standing before them, is beyond what the group could ever have imagined possible. But it is all real. The group finds itself spiraling into a world many people would be afraid to explore, afraid to talk about, afraid to acknowledge. Many lessons are learned on the perplexing and menacing journey, most of which will be unfortunately shaded and forgotten as life becomes more complicated in the ensuing years. But three lessons won't be forgotten. Three lessons will stay with the members of the group the rest of their lives:
More often than not there are reasonable explanations for unusual occurrences.
Not everything we see in life is real. Not everything real in life we see.
We are not humans having a spiritual experience; we are spirits having a human experience.

Documentary
Breathing Port Robinson is a low budget, yet informative and entertaining look inside the real story behind the feature film in development Port Robinson Road. The film was shot in 2008 with very little money, released in 2009 to a very warm reception because of that fact. The feature documentary takes an intimate look into the real life paranormal encounters experienced by Dave McRae and his fellow College friends, during their many visits to the house on Port Robinson Road in November 2000.
"Looking back, the film isn't exactly what I wanted, but I had very little money at the time to put towards it. I needed to do something. Considering the circumstances, it's a solid piece."
Dave McRae
Independent filmmakers and long time friends Dave McRae and Bruce Dale struggle to bring Dave's vision to the big screen. With very little money in their pockets, a finished screenplay sitting on a desk, and a unique take on a genre unlike any other, Bruce and Dave set out to create awareness for the story with this documentary. Their passion, dedication and heart for the craft of filmmaking is truly shown through the simplicity that is Breathing Port Robinson.
The documentary includes exclusive interviews with former group members who experienced the house, as well as thoughts from James “the amazing” Randi, Tom and Lisa Butler of the American Association of Electronic voice phenomena and more.

Show your support As an independent filmmaker your biggest obstacle is usually always money. But just as important as that money, is the support from friends, family and even those you don't know, who believe in you. Support and belief is half the battle of success.
I'm not asking anyone to donate money towards the funding of Port Robinson Road. Let's face it; money is extremely tight for everyone these days.
I would howwever, like you to show your support by telling me either why you believe or don't believe in the paranormal in 100 words or less in the box below. Keep it brief but precise.

Keep it clean. Keep it real. Keep it fair.

Quotes " I listened to the screenplay sneak peak #1 with the character of Ron, and I got that tingling sensation up my spine. I remember climbing up on that ledge and sifting through all of those Christmas cards. I'll never forget that night. That was the night the recordings were captured and Fiona was too terrified to move."
Joe Robson
Former group Member
"I was a huge cynic, I'll admit to that. But the experience of Port Robinson Road changed myt life. I mean what could possibly happen in an old abandoned house? "
Fiona Lowe
Former Group Member
" You could feel the energy on your face. You could see small amber lights in and around the house. It was just weird"
Michelle Mombourquette
Former Group Member
" There's going to be people who don't believe. I'm ok with that. But how can you say what I experienced?
I was there, you weren't. I have no reason to lie."
Derek Langlois
Former Group Member
" There was a negative energy that didn't want you to come and a positive energy that didn't want you to leave."
Beth Goulden
Former Group Member
" It's the kind of darkness where you only see where your flashlight is pointed."
Stephanie Gauthier
Former Group Member
"It was the seriousness of the situation. Once you had been there once, anytime you went back it wasn't a joke. I used to think this kind of thing was a waste of time. Port Robinson Road really opened my eyes to the possibility that something like this does truly exist. "
John Laidlaw
Former Group Member
" This has nothing to do with religion. Lets make that very clear. No one was hallucinating, no one was high or intoxicated. Everyone was of clear mind. We all saw, heard and felt everything. "

EVP
EVP: Electronic Voice Phenomena
EVP Is when the objective view of a recording device picks up what appears to be a voice from someone who has passed on.
There are over 13 hours of audio recording from the trips to the house on Port Robinson Road between November 2000 and April 2001. Below are a few examples of the clearest EVP we were able to capture.
The EVP "Don't" is recognized as to be one of the clearest EVP's ever recorded.
There is no reproduction of the audio. These are the RAW audio files.
Our most famous EVP was captured in January of 2001 between 2 and 4am. There were only 3 of us present. After investigating the bottom floor and the cold room area, I turn to group member Beth Goulden and ask her if she wants to go up stairs. She stands still, silent, not moving, her face engrossed in fear and her flashlight shaking. The other group member who was with us stood still, not speaking and watching Beth confused. It's during this moment the word "Don't" is captured. So clear, and so precise that you even hear the inhale of a breath before the word is spoken.
I can assure you with absolute perfection and certainty, it was no one present who spoke the word.
More EVP coming soon
FAQ FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions.
Q: Is the house still there?
A: No, the house sadly burned to the ground in February of 2002.
Q: When did this experience happen to you and your college friends?
A. From November 2000 - April 2001
Q: Are you looking for people to donate money to help fund your film?
A. To simply put, no. I am not looking for anyone to donate money towards the film.
Q: How can I support bringing your film to life?
A. You can join the official Facebook page; spread the word to friends and family who also may be interested in the paranormal.
Q: Can a production company, studio or producer donate money?
A. It's not that simple, production companies, studios and or producers won't "donate" money towards the project. This is a business and any company or producer would hope to make a return on the money invested.
Q: Why do you want to make this film?
A. It's been a passion of mine for years. Alongside being a professional Voice Artist, I am also an independent filmmaker, and I've always seen a story with-in the real story of Port Robinson Road that I feel is vitally important to the genre and the paranormal world. It's not about blood and guts or the stereo types of the College generation. I feel its a fresh perspective.
Q: Are the EVP that is recorded and the unusual mist in the photos really real?
A. What do you mean by real? Is it really a ghost? Well... in short, I don't know. But I do know what it isn't. It's not anyone that was present or caused by anyone that was present at the time.

The screenplay to Port Robinson Road is in the final stages of it's official compeltion of polishing. It's been tweaked, fine tuned and altered over the last 6 years, and now will come to an end in the coming weeks.
"I feel I've got pretty much what I want to tell now" says McRae. "It took me almost 7 years to figure out with trial and error what direction and message I needed to come through. I've got it now."

Dave McRae is heading into production on a new short film called The Intruder. He says he hopes to have the film released sometime this Summer. When asked on the progress on Port Robinson Road, McRae says, "Oh don't worry, it's still on the burner. But like I've always said, I can't put all my eggs into one basket. I need and must move onto other projects in the mean time. The Port Robinson Road screenplay is going through some major polishing and tweaking, and we have some ideas for a second concept video. I often get asked, will it ever get made? Yes, yes it will."

January 11th, 2011
Dave McRae has announced that the Port Robinson Road screenplay is under going some changes in story and story structure. "It's still the same story, but after stepping away from it for a long time, and having several people offer their critiques, I have realized it needs to be polished up a bit. At 131 pages long, there is no doubt in my mind I can make it shorter, and more refined." Dave says he hopes to have this new draft completed by the spring. "It probably won't take that long, but with other things on the go, I want to give myself some good time" McRae also says, " I get asked a lot, where is the movie? What's happening with it? And the truth is, I can't put all my eggs into one basket. I want this film to happen as much as the next person, but it takes time, it takes money. Even the documentary in which we shot a few years back, if shot now, would be 10 times better than it was. I think a new concept video needs to be created too, something newer and more updated. With other short film ideas on the go, I just need to find the time to do so."
September 8th, 2010
The Port Robinson Road screenplay has gone through some adjustments and is looking fantastic. Updates have been few as of late, but don't worry, more are on the way...
March 13th, 2010
Dave McRae informs portrobinsonroad.com that the Port Robinson Road screenplay is in the middle of going through some small adjustments.
"They're nothing major in the slightest, says McRae. Just some minor tweaks, polishing of scenes, dialogue and action. I haven't looked at it since 2008, and it's been a refreshing experience to go back, read the entire piece over, and be able to adjust things. I still feel it's a solid piece of work, and every time I read it, I think to myself, ya, this is really good."
McRae says he hasn't ruled out the option of now shooting one scene, a few scenes, or even the entire motion picture on his own.
"I haven't ruled that out as of yet, but shooting the entire film would be a huge undertaking, even if it is on the lower budget end of things. That said, I firmly believe the story of Port Robinson Road is the most important element. I have full confidence in creating the piece, but lower budget or not, it does take months and I wouldn't be paid for this effort, which is something I have to keep in mind. That said, shooting another "concept video" so to speak is something I am seriously thinking about. I do know it'll be better than the last, because the script is done, and I have a better vision of where I want things to be and go. I'm thinking about it. But I do have some short films in the works, which take up a lot time as well. We'll see what happens. But mark my word, Port Robinson Road will be made."

S.O.P.S S.O.P.S or " The Southern Ontario Paranormal society" is a non-profit organization based in Southern Ontario and was created in 2005.
I love this organization because it not only works hard on paranormal investigation, but it encourages people to be skeptical and to do their research. The fine people of S.O.P.S understand the statement that more often than not there are reasonable explanations for unusual occurrences. They weed out those who look to gain financially from naive unsuspecting individuals who may not be aware they're being taken advantage of.
My hat continues to go off to Steve Genier and the people of S.O.P.S for not only working hard on searching for the truth, but doing the proper research to make that possible.
